Dear Bel Nor Ladies,
I recently forwarded an informative email and, in response, received a scolding from a person representing a Republican organization telling me that the organization refuses to take a stand on, what I consider to be, a fundamental conservative issue. I was angered by this email but then a very wise Bel Nor member inspired me. She pointed out that, for too long now, our party has been afraid to stand up for what is right. She commended me for sending the email and having the courage to voice an opinion on the issue.
I was reminded that we have lost our way because we are afraid of offending someone, hurting someone’s feelings, or being politically incorrect. It is this trend that has sent our beloved Country down this destructive path toward socialism, poverty, and debt.
There was a time in this Country when we had high standards and expectations of our Citizens and our Citizens were given the responsibility to meet those standards and expectations. Because of this, people worked and challenged themselves to achieve and reach the American Dream. By lowering these standards we have removed drive, initiative, responsibility, and imagination. We have gone from “What can I do for my Country” to “What can this Country do for me.” We have made excuses for every behavior, taught generations of minorities that they cannot achieve without Government assistance, and punished Citizens for their hard work and ingenuity.
Ladies, it is time that we stand up for, and voice what is right. In doing so, we will likely hurt feelings, offend, and appear politically incorrect but we have to have the courage to stand up for our convictions. If we do this respectfully, with the knowledge that not everyone has the same beliefs and they are free to disagree without disdain or ridicule on our part, we may soften the blow.
As your President, I will conduct business as per the By-Laws of Bel Nor, CFRW, and NFRW. But, personally, I want to take a stand and voice my convictions:
I am a Christian. I believe in God, Jesus, I read the Bible, go to church most Sundays, and go to confession.
I am against abortion. I believe in life at conception and am passionately against Late-Term Abortion.
I believe in the Constitution of the United States. I believe it is one of the most brilliant documents ever written and it should not be altered. Our Founding Fathers knew their history well and wrote this document with the intent that we never repeat it.
I believe in small government. There is little more that the government should control other than the military and highways.
I believe in privately owned businesses, big and small. We, the Citizens of this Great Nation, create jobs, keep prices down, services and quality up, and choice abundant through competition, innovation, hard work, and responsibility.
I believe in the death penalty. I do not believe it is a deterrent but I do believe that, in extreme cases, there are those who are so vile and violent that they should not be allowed to live and make more suffer.
I believe it is my right to eat trans fats and salt, smoke a cigaret in my house (I don’t smoke but if I did), spank my child as a form of discipline, buy the kind of light bulb I like, drive a SUV, choose my own health insurance, and choose not to “green” my home.
I believe in pragmatic recycling and conservation but not at the expense of human life.
These are my personal beliefs and I do not expect them to represent your beliefs or those of Bel Nor. I understand that not everyone believes as I do and I respect each individuals’ right and freedom to believe as they wish. I am not offended by beliefs different than mine. I do not dislike or believe those who do not share my views to be stupid or inferior. I will not apologize for offending, hurting feelings, or appearing politically incorrect.
I hope that you will follow in my footsteps and take a stand. Voice your convictions and have the courage to offend.
God Bless you all,
Lisa Budisavljevic
President
